Thanks to the IceCaps, it hasn’t been too long of a summer. The team’s strong showing in their inaugural season and playoffs took us in to May, and now we’re coming up on the first weekend of the regular season.
The Caps start out on the road against Springfield and Connecticut, and will be back here in the city next weekend for their opener against Couturier, Schenn and the Adirondack Phantoms. Exciting stuff.
St. John’s have added a big name of their own in NHLer Burmistrov, so a lot of eyes will be on him at Mile One next Saturday no doubt. For the most part, a lot of key pieces remain for the Caps, so we’ll expect them to compete near the top of the Conference for a second consecutive season. A lot will hinge on goaltending, but that’s the bottom line with most teams.
Now we’ll get started on a feature we can run all season: IceCaps headlines, where we’ll collect links related the IceCaps, Jets prospects elsewhere, upcoming opponents and any other AHL news we feel should be included.
